MCP setup guide

Connect an MCP-compatible AI client to Dealer24x7’s live inventory, dealer directory and published reviews. The server speaks the Model Context Protocol over Streamable HTTP at:

POST https://www.dealer24x7.com/mcp

Claude Desktop

  1. Open Settings → Developer → Edit Config (this edits claude_desktop_config.json — on macOS ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/, on Windows %APPDATA%\Claude\).
  2. Add the Dealer24x7 server:

  1. Restart Claude Desktop. The Dealer24x7 tools appear in the tool picker.

Claude Code

Then ask Claude things like “use dealer24x7 to find used Broncos under $45k”. Run claude mcp list to confirm the server is connected.

Other MCP clients

Any client that supports MCP Streamable HTTP can connect: give it the endpoint URL above (remote server, HTTP transport, no authentication required). Requests are JSON-RPC 2.0 POSTs; the server implements initialize, ping, tools/list and tools/call.

search_inventory

Search live vehicle inventory by make, model, year, price, condition and ZIP radius.

Parameters: make (string), model_contains (string), year_from (integer), year_to (integer), price_max (integer), condition (string), zip (string), radius_miles (integer), limit (integer), offset (integer)

get_vehicle

Full details for one vehicle by VIN, including photos, features and the selling dealer.

Parameters: vin (string, required)

list_dealers

Find dealerships by name, city, state or ZIP, with live inventory and review counts.

Parameters: name (string), city (string), state (string), zip (string), limit (integer), offset (integer)

get_dealer

Dealer profile by customer number, with live inventory count and review summary.

Parameters: customer_number (string, required)

get_dealer_reviews

Published customer reviews and average rating for a dealer, by customer number.

Parameters: customer_number (string, required), limit (integer)

Authentication & rate limits

No authentication is required: the tools expose only information that is already public on Dealer24x7 and Dealer500 (inventory, dealer profiles, published reviews).

  • Anonymous: 60 requests per minute per IP.
  • With an API key: 600 requests per minute per IP. Send the key as Authorization: Bearer <key>. In Claude Desktop config, add a "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <key>" } block next to the "url"; in Claude Code, append --header "Authorization: Bearer <key>" to the claude mcp add command.

Over-limit requests get HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header. If you are building an integration that needs a key or a higher limit, contact us.
